MICROPROCESSORS

Microprocessors are used now-a-days, in each and every field. These small chunks of silicon are the pillars of today's elecronic prowess. They have made loads of work as easy as the click of a button and as automatic as the day and night.
Microprocessors are made up from basic logical gates connected in various combinations which result in registers, control unit and ALU. The registers are used to store data. The control unit controls the various activities of the processors. ALU stand for Arithmetic and Logical Unit. It is the main processing part of the processor. It solves arithmetic problems and generates numerical answers. It also solves logical problems to give results. All the different registers are connected to the control unit and the ALU by the "bus", which is a bunch of wires carrying data.
Buses are of two types - Address bus and data bus. The address bus carries the address of the memory locations, where data is to be transferred or retrieved, while the data bus carries the actual data.
This whole assemby is realised in silicon (or germanium) and is housed in a hermaetically plastic package. Metal pins are provided on the edges to make conections wih the external components. Processors come in various types of packages; and are employed as per the requirement.
They can be connected externally to memory devices, ports, other ICs or simply to other processors. They all work in perfect coordination to run a particular system or work on a particular data.
Numerous companies today produce microprocessors; some of them are Intel, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Atmel,etc.

Searching for lyrics on the net can prove really tedious sometimes. Especially when the song your are searching for is an oldie. Also most sites do not allow you to download or copy those lyrics. So you have to get online to read those lyrics.
But now, I have found some sites which make downloading lyrics a fun. These sites not only have a wide database of song lyrics including all types of songs, but also allow you to download lyrics without any hassles. I have given their names below -

They are the most faithful and reliable freinds of any computer geek. Ebooks are small text documents, which pack a whole world of information in them. They come in various formats, namely .pdf, .doc, .txt, etc. Pdf documents are very popular among them.
Ebooks are available on a variety of topics - computer programming, sciences, astronomy, economics, and you name it. Reading ebooks is rapidly developing as a habit among people who cannot carry thick heavy allover they go. They just carry their ebooks, and there they are. At the click of a button, an enormous realm of knowledge opens up.
Thus ebooks are proving to be very helpful and convenient tools for carrying and delivering knowledge all over the world. Long live this beautiful invention.

DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION

A domain name is the name of our website, the way in which we would like it to appear in place of "$$$$$" in www.$$$$$.com . We can decide the name which best suits our site and which is easy to remember. Then it has to be submitted for registration to the domain-space provider. First the availability of that domain name is checked; if its avaiable, furthur procedure is followed; if not then we have to choose a different name.
Then a form is to be filled wherein a detailed information about the site owner and the means of payment and various other things is to be filled. Once the money gets transferred into their account, within a short period our desired domain name gets registered and then we can use it as our website name.
One more important thing to be taken care of is the extention, i.e. either .com or .org or .net and others. Few such name extentions are available. Out of them all, the .com name is usually the costliest. Also it is the most popular one and hence is the one mostly remembered. So there is a trade-off between a costlier domain name extention and its popularity. Hence we should we choose the one which is most suitable to us.

DELL COMPUTER

Dell is a renowned american company manufacturing computers and related processing equipments, which has been in this sector for quite some time now. It is a popular company among the masses and people have accepted their good quality computing equipments.
Dell manufactures a wide range of desktops, laptops, servers, workstations and various other products related to computers. Dell laptops are especially popular among the youth. Their fine product service added with excellent computing solutions, are an ideal combination for any firm which needs computers.
Most Dell computers have the Intel processors in them. They are highly capable of performing under extreme conditons.
I personally have a very good experience with Dell. I own a Dell laptop, which is quite old now. Recently I needed to upgrade the RAM and hence I stepped into the nearest Dell service center. I was impressed with the fast service provided by them. I feel that Dell computer have a bright future ahead.

CREDIT CARDS

Credit cards are the the type of cards distributed by banks, which enable users to buy things worth more than the balance available in their bank accounts. The surplus amount of money spent by the card holder has to be then deposited in the bank, within a prespecified no. of days, with an added amount of credit.
Thus the cardholders do not have to carry the cash with them, whenever they have to buy things. This proves very helpful when commodities worth large amounts of money have to be purchased. Shopping has become as easy as never before.
Banks can earn profits by the credits their card-holders pay to them.
Now-a-days credit cards are easily available. Banks readily provide accounts and their credit cards. Each card holder is given is given a card no. which is used to authenticate a transaction.
A magnetic strip present on the back of the credit card contains all the information of the card holder. When a card is swapped in a reading machine all this data is read and processed. And the transaction is registered in the account of the card holder.
Transactions on the internet have become the easiest, with the advent of credit cards. Just you have to enter your card no. and your password, and its all done...!!!

COMPUTER NETWORKING

The internet as we know it today was a small network of a few computers, linked together in a small area. Limited amount of data transfer was possible. Slowly but gradually, this network grew bigger and more complex, where more amounts of data communication was possible and with greater ease. Of late, this network has grown into the internet as we know it today. Today data as well as voice communications are possible and with such an ease as never before. All this has been possible because of computer networking.
Computer networking is a way of communication between computers, wherein computers are mutually connected either with wire or wirelessly. Various standards known as "protocols" have been developed by the IEEE for computer networking. Two or more computers follow these protocols to communicate with each other, either in a wired manner or wirelessly.
It requires many electronic devices like routers, network hubs, separators, etc. Many companies like CISCO, NETGEAR, etc. have come up which provide these networking instruments. As a result many lucrative jobs in these sector have come up. Some of these companies like Cisco, provide their own certifications like CCNA, CCNP and CCNE, which are recognized as industry standards worldwide.

BROADBAND SATELLITE INTERNET

Today broadband internet is one of the top buzzwords. Internet has reached every nook and corner of the world. It has made the life of people far easier. But the most important landmark which made the internet so popular was the advent of broadband internet. "Broadband" means wide bandwidth, which allows more chunks of data to be transmitted in less time.
Before broadband, the hassles of dial-up restricted the popularity of the internet. It was a slow internet and had irritatingly slow speed. But with broadband things became far easier and faster. Loads of tasks could be completed in seconds.
The reason behind its fast speed was that it used dedicated wires for connection. A world wide web of these wires was woven which provided dedicated 24*7 access to the internet. Numerous Broadband ISPs have sprung up. Some of them are Sify, Hathway, etc.
But nowadays, satellites are used in the process of providing broadband internet. Satellites are used as relay stations perched high in space. Transmitting stations send signals directly to the satellites, which are relayed back to other far away stations. Receiving stations receive these signals and transmit them to the nearby individual subscribers. The whole world comes to our desk through broadband satellite internet, almost instantly.

ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARES

Anti-virus softwares are the chunks of code which sneak around our PCs and protect it from malicious softwares or programs.
Viruses in the form of worms, trojan horses, spyware, adware, etc. roam the whole internet. They are created by people who intend to either harm other peoples computers or to spy them and gather valuable information others' surfing habits. They do this either for monetory gains or just for fun! The viruses are malicious programs which enter into uor PCs secretly and perform operations which can severely harm our PCs. Therefore we as internet users must be capable of protecting our computers against these malicious programs. This is where anti-virus softwares come to our rescue.
Anti-virus softwares keep a constant vigil around all the processes running in a computer. It forms guard-posts at all the ports of the computer and checks all the data flowing into or outside the computer. If it finds any malicious program being executed or any suspicious data being transferred, it alerts the user of the happenings and prompts for proper action. Mostly it is preset that the antivirus software deletes or quarantines any such data. It is very difficult to do all this manually. By using an antivirus software, it is all taken care of by the software itself.
These softwares have collection of signatures of virii which are currently roaming the internet. While performing a virus-scan the software compares all the files in a computer with these virus-signatures. Any file found with matching properties is consitered to be a virus program and is then suitably treated. The virus-signatures should be regularly updated from the anti-virus company's database. This keeps us protected against any potential threats which are released on the internet daily.
We must use good anti-virus software to protect our PCs. Many are available in the market, with varying capabilities and fortifications. I have come across a few good ones like Avast, AVG, QuickHeal, McAffe. But the most satisfactory performance which I have experienced is with the Kaspersky Internet Security software, published by Kaspersky Labs. It has a very clean interface and various scan options. A trial version can be downloaded for free from the company's website. Kaspersky Labs also provide an online scanner service for free. The company has a very updated database of virus signatures and virus-signatures are updated as frequently as every hour, when set to automatic mode.
To wrap-up, I recommend everybody to use a good antivirus software to protect the valuable memories of your loved ones and any classified information in your computers and keep away those burglars and sneakers roaming the internet.

ELECTRONICS

Electronics is the branch of physics, concerned with the behaviour and movement of electrons. Being an Electronics Engineering student, I have come to know the far reaching effects the electronics science has had on our society. Today, we are so much used to relishing the fruits of this science, that we hardly even notice that it existed.
Today, we cannot even imagine about a life without electricity. Housewives would find it nearly impossible to do the daily chores without using washing machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners and all of them which we find in our own houses, which all run on electricity. Men would find their lives far difficult, if all the computers in their offices, running on electricity, won't work. Students in schools and colleges would find it difficult to study if the lighting won't work or if all the electronic equipments in their labs stopped functioning without electricity. Inspite of its crucial importance in our lives, we tend to ignore it and misuse it or waste it.
Today, electronics has made the lives of men much simpler and enjoyable. People use computers to carry out huge calculations. Even the daily milkman uses a calculator to calculate your monthly bill. Children play with electronic video games. Various electronic musical instruments like the electrtic- guitar enhance our musical experience. Robots, which are controlled electronically, are used in industries worldwide to carry out tasks which humans cannot. THis has increased the production of our industries manyfold.
Thus, electronics has proved to be a boon for mankind and has brought us many good things and luxuries. But we should learn to use it properly, for the well being of mankind. Otherwise it could prove a bane and could cause total annihilation of mankind from this planet.

Hello everybody.
This is iceman, the frozen one.
I'm an engineering student, interested in reading and computer programming. I'm here to share my views, reviews and my knowledege with everyone out there. I hope you all will like my posts and will give suggestions to make them even better.
